The title on the back of this painting reads  ” Naljord the Serpent and Bininj”.

The literal meaning of Bininj is human being, Aboriginal vs non-Aboriginal person, and also “man” in opposition to “woman”. “Bininj” is a word in the Kunwok language, often referred to by its dominant dialect Kunwinjku.  Naljord is a Dreamtime Serpent.  

The painting will relate the Dreamtime, and of the first ancestral people to enter Arnhem Land.

This painting is in good condition with some very minor pigment loss.
