Figurative Spatula Reversed Arms and Legs

Massim carvers are incredibly innovative in both the form and detail of their carvings.  This liberated approach to carving is what creates such diversity and visual interest within this category of collecting. Here in this example the carver appears to have attached the arms and legs in an unusual position half way down the body and at the base of the body.   Whilst not what you would expect this composition is aesthetically very pleasing.  The face also is very dynamic with its unusual representation of a  mouth.

This spatula is in excellent condition presented on a custom metal stand.  Circa early 20th century
