This stunning group of spears were collected circa 1920-30s. They consist of a shovel nose spear along with a pressure flaked stone spear head both collected in the Kimberleys in Western Australia. These spear heads were bound in the traditional method into the top of a long spear shaft up to 3m long . The spears were used for both hunting and tribal warfare. The metal shovelnose heads proved more resilient than the stone or glass tips. These shovel nose blades were made from recycled door hinges , horse shoes or any other suitable found metal objects. The third spear is of a classical form found in Central Australia all the way accross the desert to the Kimberley region.
