This is a Fijian throwing or missile club known as an Ula.  It was the most personal weapon of the Fijian warrior, that was worn thrust into the warrior’s waist belt.  These ulas came in a range of styles.  They were made from small trees with the bulbous head being where the roots of the tree were formed.   In battle usually one to three ulas were worn in the waistbelt and could be thrown with great accuracy.  These clubs were  carried in addition to the larger heavier club.  This style of ula is referred to as tavatava because of the flanges or serrations of the club head.  This example is in exceptional condition.
