Stunning figurative early Massim Lime spatula,
Late 19th early 20th century, Ex Robert Bleakley collection
This is an exceptional example because of it size and unusual circular motif engraved on all surfaces of the crouching ancestral figure. The face of the figure is also very animated. These more elaborate spatulas served other functions such as magical spatulas, used in ritual betel nut chewing, or house guardian spatulas that were kept in the house to ward off supernatural threats. This spatula is in excellent condition.
